A man was running manic through Midtown Comics at 40th Street and 7th Avenue in New York City around 2:30 pm Tuesday afternoon. After a security guard attempted to remove the man from the shop’s premises by having him sign an affidavit saying he’d never return, the man attacked the security guard. He bit the security guard and then made a mad dash for a window. He plowed through the window and fell to the sidewalk below. It’s being reported the man didn’t steal anything, but is a known shoplifter in the area.

The man then tried to flee, but street vendor Demo Helim caught up to him and held him until police arrived on the scene.

Midtown Comics shop owner Gerry Gladston described the incident, “He was running around there fast and just bolted toward the window and jumped out. … He wasn’t wearing a cape or anything”

Watch:

Police identified the man as a 24-year-old homeless man. He was taken to the hospital with only minor injuries, but as you can see from the video above he was rather bloody after jumping through the window.

Gladston told the New York Daily News that the man “was perhaps in a drug-fueled rampage.” He also noted he was causing trouble at other businesses including a Lenwich sandwich shop.

The man is being charged with criminal mischief, assault, criminal possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of marijuana.

ABC 7 reports it took police over an hour to clean up all of the broken glass and make the street safe again for pedestrians.
