Guardians of the Galaxy Director James Gunn was fired by Disney after serious allegations of pedophilia were made by journalists Mike Cernovich and Jack Posobiec which included a number of Tweets from Gunn as well as links on his personal website. Cernovich is already receiving threats against his person. Gunn claimed his Tweets were offensive jokes. Nevertheless, Disney fired him.
Gunn had hinted on social media that he would be appearing on Sony’s Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con where they were going to show off Venom, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse as well as a new horror project presumably with Gunn attached.
Gunn had teased the appearance on social media:
I will see many of you at #SanDiegoComicCon one week from today (Friday, 7/20), with something dark, sweet, and special. #sdcc #secrets pic.twitter.com/zOkD4s3fNu

A new report from Deadline indicates that Gunn will not appear at San Diego Comic-Con. “Sources now tell Deadline that he won’t appear.”
Sony had never confirmed Gunn would appear on the panel. However, details of the project have been revealed. Brian and Mark Gunn wrote the script. It’s going to be directed by David Yarovesky and is scheduled for a November 30 release. The film is being financed and produced by H Collective alongside James Gunn and his Troll Court Entertainment.
Sony has not issued a statement regarding the accusations against Gunn.
Disney’s statement by studio boss Alan Horn was clear, “The offensive attitudes and statements discovered on James’ Twitter feed are indefensible and inconsistent with our studio’s values, and we have severed our business relationship with him.”
James Gunn has not issued a statement since he addressed the allegations on Twitter late last night. We reached out to San Diego Comic-Con but did not hear back at the time of press.
