He would quickly transitions into discussing his new gig on Empire.
Morgan quips, “They gave me a role on Empire.” When asked for specifics on his role, Morgan tells Fallon, “Well, contractually they gave me millions of dollars. Contractually. all I’ve got to do is not fake a hate crime.” He adds, “That’s all I have to do.”
Fallon then presses Morgan on Jussie Smollett’s story asking him if he buys it. Morgan exclaims, “No, man! Come on, first of all racist people don’t be jumping nobody in a polar vortex.” He adds, “You know, racists don’t be watching Empire, man. It’s too cold. They say, ‘We be racists in the Spring.'”
Morgan continues, “‘Cause there was like 10 seconds of footage, and then he disappears for like two seconds. Then he reappears with the noose on his neck still holding the Subway sandwich. He didn’t let that Subway sandwich go. I think it was pepperoni and cheese. I don’t know.”
Morgan isn’t the only comedian to take cracks at Jussie Smollett. Chris Rock took the opportunity to make Smollett the butt of his jokes when he was presenting an award at the NAACP Image Awards ceremony.
Rock would start out, “I guess I got to present an award, they said no Jussie Smollett jokes.” He continued, “I know, I know. What a waste of light skin. You know what I could do with that light skin. That curly hair? My career would be out of here. I would be f****** running Hollywood.” After a pause Rock would add, “What the hell was he thinking? From now on, you are “Jesse” from now on. You don’t even get the “U” no more. That “U” is respect. You ain’t getting no respect from me.”
What do you make of Tracy Morgan’s cracks Jussie Smollett? Were you keeled over laughing like Fallon?
