Jennifer Lawrence will be extremely busy this year. She’s got two big movies coming out in Red Sparrow and X-Men: Dark Phoenix. But she’s not sitting idly by. The actress recently did a photo shoot with Vanity Fair where she visited a biodynamic farm to show off the country life. You can see the photos below.
In Red Sparrow, Lawrence will play Dominika Egorova a Russian ballerina turned Soviet operative. She finds herself faced with a career ending injury and is recruited to join the Soviet Union’s elite spies known as Red Sparrows who use psychological and sexual warfare to obtain secrets from the Soviet Union’s enemies. Lawrence spoke with Vanity Fair about the project where she said the role actually scared her.
“Red Sparrow really scared the hell out of me because I get nude. I tried to do the movie without nudity but realized it just wouldn’t be right to put the character through something that I, myself, am not willing to go through.”
Lawrence revealed that Red Sparrow director Francis Lawrence really helped her through the nude scenes.
“He looked me right in the eyes like I had clothes on and then all of a sudden I was like, ‘Oh, O.K., it’s just like I have clothes on.’ Everybody here is professional. You’re still at work. One look just made me comfortable. It didn’t make me feel naked.”
And Francis wasn’t shy with his praise.
“She is one of the most intuitive people that I know. She’s kind of a savant when it comes to human behavior. When she’s acting in a scene, it’s not something that’s been rehearsed or practiced—it’s really fun to watch, and it’s pretty magical.”
Along with Red Sparrow, Lawrence will reprise her role as the mutant Mystique in X-Men: Dark Phoenix. It’s unclear what Mystique’s role in the film will be, but the big rumor is that the film will introduce the Marvel villains, the Skrulls, who have similar shape-shifting abilities to Mystique. The film is expected to adapt the Dark Phoenix Saga which sees Jean Grey succumb to the Phoenix Force.
Red Sparrow debuts this Friday on March 2, 2018. X-Men: Dark Phoenix premieres later this year on November 2, 2018.
