Fairy Tail RPG Will Have 30 Hour Campaign and a Focus on Your Guild!

Anime and manga fans, you’ll be getting something awesome in 2020. Koei Tecmo games announced an RPG based on the popular Fairy Tail franchise.

Earlier this month, they dropped this reveal trailer:

KOEI Tecmo Games’ GUST Studios is developing the game under the supervision of manga creator, Hiro Mashima.

According to Dengeki PlayStation magazine, the main story alone will be about 30 hours of gameplay, and there are currently more than 10 characters that will be playable throughout the adventure.

Each character will get their own episode questline, with sidequests included. This includes episodes and sidequests with the goal of highlighting some characters that didn’t get into the spotlight enough in the anime adaptation.

Party combinations will play a key role. Putting certain characters together in a party will increase their bonds with one another, for instance.

Fulfilling side quests for the townsfolk will help spread the good word about your Guild. Increasing your guild’s rank will in turn boost your cooperative magic. As your guild gains rank, you’ll also be able to unlock the potential for legendary class magic.

No word yet on DLC or other details, but the battle system appears to be command based.

The main staff from the second and most recent anime are all returning to work on the game.

Fairy Tail has had an impressive run. The manga ran from 2006 – 2017, and has produced many successful spinoffs and anime movies, both abroad and in the United States.

The game is being developed for PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

No release date information has come out as of yet, other than sometime in 2020.

Until we get more details, fans can rest easy knowing one of the most well known manga franchises will be theirs to play next year.
