Fallout 76: Fan Favorite Fallout Weapon To Make Return

Bethesda Studios confirmed that a fan favorite weapon will be returning to their upcoming [easyazon_link identifier=”B07DDD9VK7″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Fallout 76[/easyazon_link] game. That fan favorite weapon is the Fat Man from Fallout 3.

If you aren’t familiar with Fallout 76, it’s an upcoming MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Play Game) from developer Bethesda Studios and its the ninth game in their Fallout series. The game will be different from previous Fallout games in that its focus is in online player rather than a single player experience. It will feature a number of systems that have become iconic with Fallout including the VATS system which allows player to essentially pause the game and pinpoint certain areas of their target they want to hit.

Along with the VATS system the Fat Man is returning. The Fat Man is one of the most devastating weapons in the game in that it allows player to launch mini-nukes at their enemies. Comic Book confirmed the fan favorite after a chat with developers at Bethesda.

The Fallout wiki describes the Fat Man:

“The Fat Man was conceived, developed, and tested inside the Fort Strong armory in Boston. The barracks were leveled and several houses were constructed around the fort to provide a testing area to better ascertain how much damage the weapon would cause in an urban environment.”

If you played [easyazon_link identifier=”B0141UD5T2″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Fallout 4[/easyazon_link], you discover the Fat Man and its development history on one of your first missions with the Brotherhood of Steel.

The Fat Man has several different variants that allow a wide range of flexibility. It allows the wielder to choose different attributes of the weapon. Other than the original Fat Man you have the Experimental MIRV which is considered very similar to the original Fat Man with one exception. Instead of firing one nuke, it fires eight mini-nukes at one time. This allows the weapon to deal greater damage and provide a larger blast radius.

Next, you have Esther. First off, its ten pounds heavier than Fat Man, but also fires mini nukes but with a light blue body. Next, you have the Striker. This weapon was created by the employees of Beaver Creek Lanes. It was meant to serve as a tool for Thomas Davis, former league champion, the major difference is the ammunition it fires. Instead of nukes, The Striker fires modified bowling balls.

Finally, there is the Nuka-nuke launcher. Like the Experimental MIRV, the Nuka-nuke fires mini-nukes that are modified. Instead of a regular nuclear payload, it fires a modified quantum-enhanced nuke which greatly increases its explosive power.

While Bethesda confirmed the return of the Fat Man, they were mum on where it could be found. It’s something players will have to discover when Fallout 76 arrives later this year.

Are you excited about the return of Fat Man? Do you think they will introduce other variants of the weapon? If so what kind of variants would you like?
