Amidst rumors that the supply drop system in the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare would feature exclusive weapons and a deluge of emotes, sprays, and titles, a member of the Infinity Ward team responded to the community by calling these rumors “half-baked” and “inflammatory.”
The rumor started with a series of tweets from The Gaming Revolution:
Who wants 300+ emotes in supply drops, who wants 500+ titles, who wants over 200 sprays in supply drops
YAYAYAYAYAYYA
Weapons are coming too, forget any cosmetic only malarkey

They’re literally changing so much. They had A FAIR SYSTEM WITH SALVAGE and then they just remove it.
I hope something changes by release, I swear.
— TheGamingRevolution (@TheGamingRevoYT) September 24, 2019
This is such a disservice to the developers who have worked so hard on the game. Not everyone wants all of this.
— TheGamingRevolution (@TheGamingRevoYT) September 25, 2019
I’m only putting this stuff out there because I want Modern Warfare to be a phenomenal success. They have the recipe to do so but poor decisions will drag the game down, just like they did with BO4. All of my leaks have been so positive & pinnacle to some people’s hype
— TheGamingRevolution (@TheGamingRevoYT) September 25, 2019
But I won’t stand and only report the good. You guys need to know, so hopefully with enough negative feedback they can reconsider. However, it’s kind of beating a dead bush at this point…

The Gaming Revolution has been accurate with past Call of Duty: Modern Warfare leaks, correctly announcing that mini-maps would be replaced by a ‘compass bar’ and the newly introduced Gunsmithing system.
As fans began to grow angry with Infinity Ward and Activision for locking advantage-providing weapons behind loot boxes, Infinity Ward Studio Art Director Joel Emslie took to the /r/modernwarfare subreddit on September 26th to address the community:
Hey gang,
Take a second and think about who on the production side comes to this sub and reads through the comments, IW Dev. We are a mixed bag of nerds, jocks, and everything in between. Its amazing but we all get along and come together every day to build something that we believe in. We’ve dedicated our careers to being the best at what we do and to making the best possible game we can make. That’s corny but at the same time this is a job and if you work at a job and aren’t successful then eventually there is no job. Almost all of us have worked in the industry for long enough to know that if we don’t make a good game then no one will play it. Its pretty much all we think about and for most of us we treat every game like its our last so we put everything we have into it. We never hold back. Public forums like this sub are part of our process. Its where we come to gather exterior thoughts and feedback on what we are crafting. We are about 4 weeks away from launch but the game will continue to live beyond that date. This sub will be a way for us to keep getting an outside hands on perspective from everyone that plays the game. Everyone benefits from this. Player experiences get better and better and we get to keep making games;)
So yes…the current drama, you’re all being heard, all of it. I don’t know why but on my daily scans of the sub, where Im looking for useful feedback;), I even read the ultra dark toxic comments that tell me how incompetent and stupid I must be and how I should go away somewhere where I cant harm people with my bad ideas and artwork. We all have a pretty thick skin here but yeah it can kind of get to you. Believe me we keep it professional but of course people that pass by my office from time to time can hear me through the walls:) Its disappointing but we move on with our day. I understand that there are people here that have things going on in their lives or they are upset about something to do with the game and they need to get the poison out and feel like they are being listened to. You are and yeah go for it, but keep it clean and maybe even a little creative. Get it out of your system but remember there’s a team of human beings here at IW and we have crappy days just like you. Our interest is entirely in the game itself.
At the end of his post, Emslie takes a thinly-veiled shot at TheGamingRevolution, asking fans to “not get thrown off by ill informed people that want to make a name for themselves by spreading half baked inflammatory rumors.”
“There are some announcements that have come up this week that are official and some that are rumors. My ask of all of you is to focus on information that is actually fact and not get thrown off by ill informed people that want to make a name for themselves by spreading half baked inflammatory rumors. Lets work real problems together and not fairy tales of boogeymen.”
Later that same day, TheGamingRevolution was allegedly informed by his inside source that “a tonne of pre orders” were being cancelled due to the news regarding supply drops and the announcement that Special Ops Survival Mode would be a PS4 exclusive for one year, while also noting that the devs were “thinking about giving the player the options” to earn supply drop-exclusive weapons:
Activision and Infinity Ward apparently recent held a big meeting regarding my recent post about Supply Drops. The gist of it is that they’ve lost a tonne of pre orders with the recent news of Survival being delayed by a year on PC/XB and the microtransactions news & are
— TheGamingRevolution (@TheGamingRevoYT) September 26, 2019
thinking about giving the player the options to earn them again. Nothing regarding microtransactions is set in stone, and like I’ve said countless times before, they are a constant work in progress, but my source wanted to let the community know that they really care.
— TheGamingRevolution (@TheGamingRevoYT) September 26, 2019
Currently, the crossbow is planned to be the first weapon in supply drops. At launch, everything is cosmetic only. Victor is technically right, but only for launch, but I think we were all expecting this…
— TheGamingRevolution (@TheGamingRevoYT) September 29, 2019
Since this announcement, TheGamingRevolution has called on Activision to deliver a clear and concise answer regarding the presence of gameplay affecting weapons in the hopes that it would “save your game and restore [the community’s] faith.”

Let’s set the record straight regarding microtransactions once and for all @Activision. I know you will see this and I wish for a quick response for the community. Are there any plans to have weapons that affect gameplay behind supply drops, including after launch,
— TheGamingRevolution (@TheGamingRevoYT) September 29, 2019
in Modern Warfare?
If the leaks are misguided, then you should be able to give a pointblank “No, never” answer, right?
You have an easy chance here to set the record straight.
Let the community know.
No more ambiguity like we have received year on year on year.
— TheGamingRevolution (@TheGamingRevoYT) September 29, 2019
If silent, then we will know.
Thank you.
— TheGamingRevolution (@TheGamingRevoYT) September 29, 2019
I am asking you because I know the developers will want to save face and you will have a better idea of plans than they do.
This is just to show the community, save your game and restore their faith.
— TheGamingRevolution (@TheGamingRevoYT) September 29, 2019
As of writing, Activision and Infinity Ward have not responded to TheGamingRevolution’s call for answers.
