New Details About Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics’ Marvel’s Avengers Surface Ahead of E3

New details about Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix’s upcoming Marvel’s Avengers video game have leaked ahead of the game’s upcoming showcase at E3.

The game just received it’s title yesterday when they announced the game’s worldwide reveal would take place at E3 on June 10 at 6 PM PT.

However, Evan Filarca reportedly came across an E3 Coliseum listing revealing key details. Those details include cinematic storytelling that combines continuous single-player and co-operative gameplay. Players will be able to assemble in teams of four and will be able to customize heroes in order to fit their own playstyle. They will also be able to combine their heroes powers to defend the world through an “ever-expanding world under constant threat.”

Here’s the full description from the E3 Coliseum listing:

“Embrace your powers and join key members of the development team at Crystal Dynamics and the creative team at Marvel Games as they talk exclusively about the upcoming Marvel’s Avengers. This is the defining Avengers gaming experience: an epic action-adventure that combines cinematic storytelling with continuous single-player and co-operative gameplay. Moderated by Andrea Rene, assemble in teams up to four players, master extraordinary abilities, customize your heroes to fit your playstyle, and combine powers to defend an ever-expanding world under constant threat.”

The game was originally announced back in January of 2017 as The Avengers Project.

Here’s the official description seen on their YouTube page from that original announcement:

“The Avengers project is being designed for gamers worldwide and will be packed with all the characters, environments, and iconic moments that have thrilled longtime fans of the franchise. Featuring a completely original story, it will introduce a universe gamers can play in for years to come.”

And that promise for an original story was confirmed by Marvel Games creative director Bill Rosemann back in 2017. He told IGN, “We want to give [developers] freedom to tell their story and we want to make it an original story.”

As to what exactly the story will be an alleged leak from 4chan back in June of last year states:

“The game takes place from the perspective of multiple Avengers after a cataclysmic incident broke the team apart (think more Dissassembled than Civil War), but there are 3 which are the core focus: Captain America, Iron Man, and Scarlet Witch (who you heard in the trailer). They aren’t the ONLY playable characters, but they are the leads of the story. Gameplay wise think a mix between Uncharted and Infamous.”

That same leak also indicated the game would tie into Marvel’s Spider-Man and Edios Montreal’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Given the title, the leak might just be true.

“It’ll also have connections putting it in both the same world as the PS4 Spider-Man game (that Sanctum Sanctorum appearance in still images was not just for fun), as well as Eidos Montreal’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Marvel Games wants in on that shared universe idea that have made the films literal billions of dollars.”
