The latest installment of “Marvel vs. Capcom,” the crossover fighting-game franchise, was officially announced during The PlayStation Experience. This will be the first game series since 2011’s Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds . “Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite” is expected to arrive late next year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
It’s unclear which specific characters will be available upon release. However the trailer does tease that the Capcom favorites will face off against characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The only characters announced so far are Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Ryu, and Mega Man X. As we move closer to the release date, further character details are expected to emerge.
What is known so far is that the game will include a variety of single-player modes similar to earlier installments. There will also be multi-player content as well as a brand new feature, Infinity Stones. Infinity Stones “can be implemented into players’ strategies as a way to influence the outcome of battle.” Marvel adds, “In addition to single-player Arcade, Training and Mission modes, a visually stunning and immersive cinematic Story Mode will put players at the center of both universes as they battle for survival against a sinister new threat.”
