Platinum Games Director Hideki Kamiya Addresses Whether Astral Chain Will Be Ported to PlayStation 4

Platinum Games director Hideki Kamiya addressed whether or not the Nintendo Switch exclusive Astral Chain might become available on other platforms in the future.

A user asked him why Astral Chain 4  would’t be available for the PlayStation 4. They asked, “Why don’t you bring Astral Chain to PS4? Do you hate PS?

Kamiya would reply, ““Well… Why not Mario, Zelda, and Metroid… ‘Do you hate PS?’ I don’t know, I’m just a developer. Why don’t you ask my publisher and investor Nintendo?”

While it may sound negative now, keep in mind that platform exclusives can become multi-platform releases down the road. Nintendo may keep a tight grip on the Astral Chain series for awhile, but Platinum Games also has a good relationship with Steam.

The release of Bayonetta a couple years ago and other Platinum titles on Steam provide hope. In fact, JP Kellams previously stated, “Bayonetta 2 would not exist without Nintendo white knighting that project.”

Rumor has it some fans are not happy with Astral Chain being a Nintendo exclusive right now. Whispers of review bombing on Metacritic from upset fans have circulated recently, but appear to be inconclusive.

All gamers can do is wait and hope. It would be awesome to see the Astral Chain series across all platforms. Platinum Games recently achieved their first UK number one with Astral Chain.

Here’s hoping all gamers get to experience this fun series someday across all platforms.
