Square Enix Announces Release Date for Final Fantasy VII Remake with Action-Packed Teaser Trailer Ahead of E3

Square Enix confirmed that the Final Fantasy VII remake will be released on March 3, 2020.

The announcement was made at the Final Fantasy VII – A Symphonic Reunion concert over the weekend in Los Angeles.

Along with the announcement of the release date they also dropped a trailer for the remake of the classic game.

Square Enix plans on releasing more details about Final Fantasy VII during their E3 panel which is expected to take place at 6 PM PT on June 10th.

They hinted that there will more than likely be an extended trailer as Tetsuya Nomura encouraged fans to “look at the short version trailer.”

Final Fantasy VII originally debuted in 1997 on the PlayStation. The game followed Cloud Strife and his party as they fought against an organization known as Shinra and a man called Sephiroth, who plots to become a god.

The gameplay was typical fair for Japanese role-playing games. Final Fantasy VII used the “Active Time Battle” system. The system would have the player’s party fill up a character gauge, which would then allow them to act. Different characters had different commands. You could attack with a weapon, cast magic, use items, perform a summoning, and other actions. There was also a special gauge that could be filled to allow characters to perform Limit Breaks.
