Halloween has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean we still can’t be in the Halloween spirit.
That said, your friendly neighborhood Bounding Into Comics gaming writer proudly presents a treat.
I’m giving you my top 10 horror games you should play to get in the Halloween spirit.
Yes, there are also honorable mentions.
If a game you enjoy isn’t on here, don’t be afraid to post your favorites in the comment section below.
Without further ado, let’s begin. First up are the Honorable Mentions.
F.E.A.R.
Nothing like a little girl that can scare the bejesus out of you! This game is a great shooter.
Beyond that, a great story and unnerving tension caused by the creepy little girl that comes out of nowhere and seemingly stalks you every step of the way, is well worth the time investment.
Blair Witch
Pretty good game set in the universe inspired by the movie. It has a very trippy storyline and some decent scares, although it will leave you scratching your head. It sets the mood perfectly, however.
10. Friday The 13th: The Game
Yes, the lawsuit over the franchise rights to Friday The 13th hurt this game, some would say killed it.
The bright side is that even without new content, the game is still fun, especially with a group of friends.
Between the 80’s nostalgia and classic Jason kills, Friday The 13th: The Game is both a funny and scary cat and mouse romp.
9. Dead By Daylight
Behaviour’s PvP cat and mouse classic remains a consistent favorite among gamers and streamers alike.
With a brand new battle pass system and frequent new content updates, DBD always stays fresh and relevant.
It will always be a sentimental favorite for me, because Dead By Daylight was the game that built my game streaming following and many friendships.
8. Resident Evil 7 : Biohazard

Resident Evil 7 brought back a lot of what the Resident Evil series was known for.
Limited ammo, great scares, a crazed family straight out of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and a unique FPS style perspective make this game a blast.
Definitely one of the more solid entries in the Resident Evil series.
7. Layers Of Fear
Psychological terror is awesome. Layers Of Fear delivers it in spades.
The game will really mess with you, especially if you play on a large screen and turn the lights down.
Moving through the creepy Victorian mansion in a first person perspective is unnerving, but the things you find out as you progress are even worse.
6. Outlast and Outlast 2
I struggled to figure out where to put both of the Outlast games, so I put them together.
I give the first game the slightly scarier nod, because of the asylum setting and some of the messed up imagery.
The second game however, is almost as much of a mind breaker as the first game. The crazed cult and resulting truths you find out about them make for a terrifying ride.
5. The Evil Within
This 3rd person horror mind bender takes you on a journey that alters your perception of reality.
Switching between the real world and the STEM world blurs the lines and it keeps you on edge as you face different monstrosities and horrors.
A well crafted story and good scares make The Evil Within a classic among horror gaming fans.
4. Dead Space
Dead Space introduced the world to Isaac Clarke, who would go on to be one of the most iconic characters in gaming.
It would spawn two successful sequels and is widely considered a classic to this day.
One of the best games ever in the survival horror genre, it has a great story, unpredictable scares, and a guarantee that you’ll jump the first time you encounter a Necromorph.
3. Silent Hill 2
One of the best games in the franchise, this classic is timeless. No horror game list would be complete without it.
Fans of the Silent Hill series always come back to replay this one. The story is perfect, the atmosphere even better. Nothing beats the palpable dread you feel as James steps foot into the town for the first time.
2. Resident Evil 2: Remake
This is the game that taught us about red and green herbs, and introduced us to Leon Kennedy. Resident Evil 2 would go on to be known as the best game in the series. Filled with great scares, an engaging story, and iconic characters, this game is one you’ll never want to stop playing.
Subtle changes allow the remake to shine even more than its already iconic counterpart.
1. Alien: Isolation
I’ve seen Alien: Isolation reduce normally the most brave men into cowering shells, frozen with fear. It’s nearly impossible to play this game without screaming.
Go ahead, turn out the lights. This is the finest psychological terror experience ever to be found in horror gaming.
Just remember, Ellen Ripley isn’t there to save you.
