Ubisoft Montreal debuted their new IP, [easyazon_link identifier=”B00ZJBT2AO” locale=”US” nw=”y” nf=”y” tag=”bounintocomi-20″ cart=”y” cloak=”y” localize=”y” popups=”y”]For Honor[/easyazon_link], at E3 this past week. The game features three different factions: The Chosen, The Legion, and The Warborn. The factions are modeled after the Samurai, European knights, and Vikings respectively.
The game feels very much like an MMO with the camera positioned over your characters shoulder in a third person point of view. However, it also appears to have some MOBA elements with NPCs roaming around the battlefield and converging on strategic locations.
The most talked about feature is For Honor’s combat system and does it look like a lot of fun!
In FOR HONOR, there’s no magical “block button” that will prevent you from being hit. When you are locked on an opponent in a duel, you need to carefully read your opponent:
• Look at their stance and react accordingly by moving your weapon using the right stick.
• Brace on the same side they attack, whether it’s on the right, the left, or above.
• Quickly analyze the signs and feedback on screen and stay alert. If you react at exactly the right moment, you can parry the hit and throw a powerful counterattack to your enemy. Then perform a killer combo using the right stick, which will surprise any opponent standing on your way.

For Honor hopes to bring to life ancient combat techniques that will allow players to feel the weight of their weapon and the impact of an opponent’s attack. Your actions with your controller will directly affect your character. If you move your right stick to the left, your character will move their weapon to the left of his body.
The idea behind the unique fighting system came after Creative Director Jason Vandenberghe had finished up a class of German longsword training at his local dojo.
For Honor will also allow players to acquire feats or abilities to use in-game. In the gameplay trailer below we are treated to one of those feats as the Samurai warrior calls down an arrow storm to separate two incoming players. He orchestrates it perfectly easily defeating the first attacker allowing him time to prepare for the second.
Which faction will you choose? Viking, Samurai, or Knight? I know I can’t wait to get my hands on this one. I am on board the hype train!
For Honor will be available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC with an unknown release date although [easyazon_link identifier=”B00ZJBT2AO” locale=”US” nw=”y” nf=”y” tag=”bounintocomi-20″ cart=”y” cloak=”y” localize=”y” popups=”y”]according to Amazon[/easyazon_link] it will be released on December 31, 2016.
