Rey Wields Kylo Ren’s Red Lightsaber in Latest Star Wars: The Last Jedi Clip

Rey

December 15th, just can’t come soon enough for Star Wars fans. In a little more than a week, we’ll finally see the next chapter of the Star Wars saga with the premiere of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. In one of the most shocking promos yet, Rey appears to use the force to bring Kylo Ren’s red lightsaber to her. She then holds it ready to defend herself as two of Snoke’s elite Praetorian Guard appear to close in.

As usual, this trailer has plenty of footage of what’s been released so far. But right at the very the most shocking revelation yet appears. Andy Serkis’ Snoke provides an ominous voiceover, “Fulfill your destiny.” The screen then fades to black. All of a sudden we hear the sound of a lightsaber activating. We then see Rey reaching her left hand. Less than a second later, Kylo Ren’s iconic red lightsaber is in her hands and she stands ready in a defensive battle position.

We see at least two members of Snoke’s elite Praetorian Guard beside her. If you pause it right at :26 seconds you can see the guard to Rey’s left lower what appears to be some kind of weapons toward Rey. However, she doesn’t even seem to notice them and focuses directly on whoever is in front of her, the most likely guess being Kylo Ren.

It’s possible this scene is connected to the clip we saw from the last trailer where Kylo Ren reaches out to who we assume is Rey in order to work with her and train her in the Force. Could it be that he’s trying to bring her to the Dark Side, or could this mean he’s seeking her aid for some reason?

Another theory that’s been thrown out is that Kylo Ren has a new lightsaber. Somehow his old saber not only becomes discarded, but ends up in the hands of Rey.

At this point just about anything is possible.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will not only give us the answers we seek, but I expect we’ll be left with even more questions of these we didn’t expect. Whatever the answer might be, we’ll find out on December 15th.
