Captain Marvel’s Status for Avengers: Infinity War Confirmed

Captain Marvel

There have been a number of conflicting reports regarding Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel and whether or not she would appear in Avengers: Infinity War. However, it finally appears we have confirmation that she will not appear in Avengers: Infinity War. Instead, she will show up in the still untitled Avengers 4 film.

Avengers: Infinity War Co-director Joe Russo had previously stated that he had been working with Captain Marvel on the set of Avengers: Infinity War stating, “If it’s not, it is official now. I think Captain Marvel’s got a great outfit in this film.”

However, those comments were not referring to Avengers: Infinity War, but to the untitled Avengers 4 film. Joe Russo clarified his previous comments saying, “She is not in Avengers 3.”

This means that Captain Marvel will most likely be fully introduced in her own solo film, Captain Marvel, which is expected to hit theaters on March 6, 2019. She will then show up in the fourth Avengers film which is scheduled to come out on May 3, 2019. However, Captain Marvel is expected to take place in the 1990s and is actually supposed to be the film that introduces Nick Fury to the world of superheroes. It’s still unclear how Captain Marvel might tie-in to Avengers 4. It’s possible it might have little connection to Avengers 4. Black Panther fully introduced us to Wakanda and the technological prosperity it has, but it didn’t really tie-in to Avengers: Infinity War at all. Even the post-credit scene only hinted at Bucky Barnes’ return.

While Joe Russo clearly states Captain Marvel might not show up in Avengers: Infinity War, I’m still not convinced. I think it’s possible we get a post-credit scene with Nick Fury realizing how dire the situation is and he sends out a signal telling Captain Marvel to return to Earth.

Do you think Captain Marvel might be referenced or even cameo in a post-credit scene in Avengers: Infinity War or will she not show up until her own solo adventure in Captain Marvel?
