Marvel and Netflix just released the official Punisher Season 2 trailer.
Check it out:
The Punisher debuted a brand new tag line when Netflix announced Season 2 would debut on January 18, 2018, “He isn’t the one who dies. He’s the one that does the killing.”
This second season will see Frank Castle fully embrace the Punisher persona as he takes on both an old rival in Billy Russo and a new foe in John Pilgrim.
Showrunner Steve Lightfoot revealed the theme is “about Frank really adopting the mantle of The Punisher.” However, he won’t be putting on the iconic Punisher logo right away. Jon Bernthal, who plays the Punisher, explains there is a specific plot moment where Frank dons his iconic vest, “This year, when he puts it on, we figured out a very intelligent, very tactical reason, a very psychologically tactical reason to wear it. It makes a lot of sense.”
Josh Stewart, who plays Pilgrim, described him as a “Christian Fundamentalist who had a rage, a violent side of him.” He added, “It’s buried deep. I think where this is all headed, that sort of side of him is going to resurface a bit.”
Costume designer Lorraine Calvert described Pilgrim as a “Alt-Right.”
As for Ben Barnes’ Billy Russo, he’s recovering from Frank’s savage attack on him that has left his face severely scarred, “He’s trying to piece together what happened to him and who he is. There is the metaphor at one point that his brain is the jigsaw that he’s trying put the pieces back together of.”
Are you looking forward to Punisher Season 2? Do you think the show might escape the fate of Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist that all saw Netflix cancel them shortly after their new seasons debut?
