James Gunn Confirms Disney Rehired Him to Direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
James Gunn confirmed the earlier report that Disney rehired him to direct Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Gunn took to Twitter where he wrote:
“I am tremendously grateful to every person out there who has supported me over the past few months. I am always learning and will continue to work at being the best human being I can be. I deeply appreciate Disney’s decision and I am excited to continue making films that investigate the ties of love that bind us all. I have been, and continue to be incredibly humbled by your love and support. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Love to you all.”

Gunn was reportedly rehired months ago after several meetings with Disney leadership specifically Alan Horn as well as Marvel Studios. Disney Studios president Alan Horn was convinced to rehire Gunn due to his public apology and the way he handled the situation.
He had been fired after he was accused of pedophilia stemming from numerous tweets and blog posts regarding the subject. Gunn would describe them as “shocking jokes.”
Fans appear to have had an overwhelmingly positive reaction to Gunn’s reinstatment.
Glad to have you back

You were patient, reserved, fair and most importantly took responsibility. It was an inspiration to myself and many. I’m grateful @Disney did the right thing. We all deserve 2nd chances if we put in the hard work. 👊🏻♥️ pic.twitter.com/aJJYTnyvyy
