Amber Heard Responds to Johnny Depp’s Defamation Lawsuit, Claims Depp “Clearly Perjured Himself”

Aquaman star Amber Heard has responded to the filing of a multi-million dollar defamation lawsuit by her husband, Johnny Depp, claiming that Depp has lied to the courts regarding a specific moment in their now infamous domestic argument.

According to legal documents filed by Heard included in a document requesting that the defamation case be moved from Virginia to California and obtained by celebrity news site The Blast, Heard states that Depp has “clearly perjured himself claiming that there was only one 911 call reporting his abuse on the evening of May 21, 2016,” with the recent filing reading:

“Readily obtainable public records of LAPD call logs from that evening show that iO Tillet Wright called 911 at 8:30 PM to report Mr. Depp’s violent and destructive behavior that evening, confirming the eyewitness accounts of how iO heard that Mr. Depp was becoming violent toward Ms. Heard over the phone and then called 911.”

A previous report by The Blast noted that Depp’s lawyers told The Blast that “they have obtained the LAPD call logs from the night of May 21, and claim Wright waited over an hour and a half before calling police.” The legal team had also allegedly “obtained video surveillance showing Depp leaving the residential building he shared with Heard in Los Angeles around 8:30 … when the call to LAPD wasn’t made until 10:00 PM.”

An incident report filed by Heard from the night of May 21st, 2016 by the Los Angeles Police Department states that a call was in fact received at 8:30 PM by the LAPD from a friend of Heard’s which claimed that Heard had been assaulted by her boyfriend, but refused to give further details:

Records do indicate that a second call was made at 10:09 PM, this time by a female who “stated she was on the phone with her friend and she began screaming at her husband”:

However, Depp’s lawyers claim that Heard told officers that she and Depp were only engaged in a “verbal despute” pointing to another log in the incident reports which states that LAPD officers “met w/ vict. Checked loc. Verified husband left. Loc vict advised verbal dispute and refused to give any frthr info. issue bus card.”

Heard stated that the reason behind the filing of these police logs is the desire to see Depp “held responsible for submitting provably false and misleading, and in any event, irrelevant -statements in his declaration,” stating that “these signal an intention by Mr. Depp to litigate in the court of public opinion.”

In response, Depp’s attorney Adam Waldman told The Blast:

“Ms. Heard says she ‘will not be silenced,’ and then remains silent for months as her hoax is buried by the avalanche of evidence.

As for her hoax-assisting friends, willing to perjure themselves for her 3 years ago ― where are they now?

Ms. Heard continues to defraud her abused hoax victim Mr. Depp, the #metoo movement she masquerades as the leader of, and other real abuse victims worldwide.”

With these recent filings by Heard, a judge must decide whether the case will remain in Virginia or move to a jurisdiction local to Heard in California.
