Tom Holland to Star as Nathan Drake in Sony’s Uncharted Movie
Tom Holland will reportedly star as Nathan Drake in Sony’s upcoming Uncharted movie that finally has a release date.
Holland had been reported to star in the Uncharted movie all the way back in May of 2017.
The film has seen its share of turnover with a rotating cast of directors that include Seth Gordon, David O. Russell, Neil Burger, and Shawn Levy. The current director is 10 Cloverfield Lane’s Dan Trachtenberg.
The Hollywood Reporter notes the current draft of the screenplay has been written by Jonathan Rosenberg and Mark Walker.
The film had originally been reported to be a prequel to the Naughty Dog series of video games essentially providing an origin story for Nathan Drake as he learns the tricks of the trade as both a treasure hunter and thief from his mentor Sully. However, that script was written by Joe Carnahan, who revealed he had finished it back in January of 2017.

It’s unclear if they will continue with that idea especially since Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception provided glimpses into Nathan Drake’s past.
This won’t be the first time Uncharted gets a live-action adaptation.
Actor Nathan Fillion portrayed Nathan Drake in an Uncharted live-action fan film.
Fillion had previously launched a Twitter campaign to have his fans rally to get him cast as Nathan Drake back in 2010.
If ever there was a Twitter campaign, let this be it. Rise, ye Browncoats. Rise, ye Castillions. RISE!
