Petition Launched for Netflix to Add “Fly Me to the Moon” to English Dub of Neon Genesis Evangelion
A petition has been launched for Netflix to add Fly Me to the Moon to the ending of each episode of their English dub of Neon Genesis Evangelion.
The petition created by Jacob Grady, the founder of Hentai website Fakku and Hanaji Games, reads:
“Netflix replaced the ending title song in their English dub of Evangelion. All other dub languages include Fly Me to the Moon, the proper ending song.
Help create a positive impact on the world by convincing Netflix to fix their egregious error.
Netflix, please add Fly Me to the Moon to Evangelion onegai shimasu.”
The removal of the Fly Me to the Moon at the end of each episode is just one of a number of controversial changes made to Netflix’s new English dub version for Neon Genesis Evangelion.
The petition has already been signed by over 275 people.
Here’s what some of them are saying:
Andrew West writes, “You can’t remove an integral part of the show and expect us to be fine with it.”
Luca Zingali Meira writes, “Big fan of Evangelion and disappointed in the changes.”
Evan Ockershausen-Hall writes, “They removed the song from crucial emotional scenes in the series.”
John Modrak adds, “Fly me to the moon is important part of Evangelion.”
Rumors and speculation indicate the song is not included in the new English dub due to copyright issues.
Funny thing is, on Japanese Netflix, Fly Me to the Moon’s on there. Definitely must be a copyright issue. pic.twitter.com/YTIrRygzZ0

TheWrap added to these rumors when they reported a source told them that “Fly Me to the Moon” was among a “few select” assets the streaming service was unable to obtain for all regions, due to the way the song was priced for global rights.”
What do you make of this petition? Do you plan on signing it? Do you think Netflix should work on getting “Fly Me to the Moon” added to the series?
