Star Trek actor Geoge Takei, who played Hikari Sulu in Star Trek: The Original Series, compared current border enforcement policy to slavery and added, “it is barbaric.”

Takei took to Twitter where he wrote, “This nation has a long and tragic history of separating children from their parents, ever since the days of slavery. We must end this practice. It is barbaric.”

George Takei isn’t a stranger to weighing in on political issues. Since the election of Donald Trump in 2016, he has put himself at the forefront of political activism.

Recently the actor made his displeasure with Georgia’s Heartbeat bill known. He took to Twitter to speak out against the bill which he claims would “essentially ban abortion in the state.”

The actor has also taken multiple swipes at President Trump over the years. Earlier this year when the president hosted the Clemson Tigers after becoming NCAA National Champions, the actor criticized the food that was served to the team because it was fast food. He described it as a “national trauma.” He also claimed that the President forced the National Champions “to listen to him drone on senselessly, making this about him while their food goes cold and soggy.”

Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who was actually present at the White House had a very different take on the matter. He told TMZ, “It was awesome. We had McDonalds and everything. It was good!” In fact, he stated he wanted to return to the White House, “Hopefully a few more!”

Takei has also faced his own troubles in the past. Back in 2017, the actor was accused of sexual misconduct by Scott R. Brunton. Takei denied the allegations.

What do you make of George Takei’s comments regarding border enforcement and comparing it to slavery? Do you think they are appropriate? Or do you think he is wildly misinformed?
