Rumors of Larson being in Star Wars soon began after Disney and Lucasfilm announced Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige would be a producing a Star Wars film.
Along with that announcement, The Hollywood Reporter reported on a rumor that Feige already had an actor in mind for his Star Wars film.

A rumor would quickly follow that the actor Feige had in mind for the role was Captain Marvel’s Brie Larson.
Larson quickly responded to that rumor by posting a photo of herself dressed as a Jedi leaning on C-3PO.

While promoting Captain Marvel alongside Mace Windu actor Samuel L. Jackson, Larson told Entertainment Weekly, “It’s so cool. I wish I was a Jedi.”
She added, “I got to hold his lightsaber! He brought it to me on set on May the 4th, and I cried. It was so cool. I wanna be a Jedi.”
