X2: X-Men United writer and Solid Snake VA David Hayter declared he will give up his Tesla if Donald Trump’s Twitter account is reinstated.

Hayter made his opinion known on Twitter when he reacted to a tweet from Noah Bookbinder who shared an article from The Washington Post headlined “Elon Musk says he would reverse Twitter ban on Donald Trump.”

Musk gave a keynote address on the Future of the Car to the Financial Times where he was asked if he was planning to let Donald Trump back on Twitter.

The Tesla CEO answered, “Well, I think the general question of should Twitter have permanent bans. And I’ve talked with Jack Dorsey about this and he and I are of the same mind, which is that permanent bans should be extremely rare and really reserved for people where they’re trying to — for accounts that are bots or spam scam accounts, where there’s just no legitimacy at all.”

“I do think that it was not correct to ban Donald Trump. I think that was a mistake because it alienated a large part of the country and did not ultimately result in Donald Trump not having a voice. He’s not going to be on Truth Social as well as a large part of the sort of the right in the United States,” Musk continued.

The billionaire went on, “And so I think this could end up being, frankly, worse than having a single forum where everyone can debate. So I guess the answer is I would reverse the permaban.”

“Also, I don’t own Twitter yet, so this is not like a thing that will definitely happen, because what I don’t own Twitter? But my opinion and Jack Dorsey, I want to be clear, shares this opinion, is that we should not have permabans,” he explained.

“Now, that doesn’t mean that somebody gets to say whatever they want to say,” Musk detailed. “If they say something that is illegal or otherwise destructive to the world then there should be a passive timeout, a temporary suspension, or that particular tweet should be made invisible, or very limited traction.”

“But I think permabans just fundamentally undermine trust in Twitter as a town square where everyone can voice their opinion,” he stated.

Returning back to the banning of President Donald Trump, Musk shared, “I think it was a morally bad decision, to be clear, and foolish in the extreme.”

When asked about Trump’s tweets on January 6th and whether it was still a mistake, Musk answered, “I think if there are tweets that are wrong and bad, those should be either deleted or made invisible and a suspension, a temporary suspension is appropriate, but not a permanent ban.”

When asked to clarify if he will allow Trump back on Twitter, Musk answered, “He has publicly stated that he will not be coming back to Twitter, and that he will only be on Truth Social. And this is the point that I’m trying to make, which is perhaps not getting across, is that banning Trump from Twitter didn’t end Trump’s voice. It will amplify it among the right and this is why it is morally wrong and flat out stupid.”

Hayter responded to this noting he would give up his Tesla if it indeed Musk follows through.

He wrote on Twitter, “Nothing could get me to give up my Tesla … Except this. #NeverForgetJanuary6th.”

Hayter has made his dislike for President Donald Trump well known. Back in September 2015, he tweeted, “We all have a little Donald Trump in us… But a high-fibre diet can move it right along.”

In 2018, he tweeted, “While I typically leave my political comments to @PoliticalHayter — Eff Brett Kavanaugh. This November, please vote out any ‘Conservative’ that supports Unstable Man-Baby Trump or his Man-Baby Nominees.”

He added, “This nonsense is embarrassing. The future of our country rests on us.”

In July 2020, he wrote, “Find someone to look at you the way Trump looks at a pass grade on a dementia test.”

What do you make of Hayter’s claim that he will give us his Tesla? Do you think he actually will or is this the same threat celebrities made about moving to Canada?
