It looks like Bandai Namco no longer has the monopoly on video games based on anime and manga, as Shueisha has stepped into the ring with their own original “tactical action game”.
At the June 28th Nintendo Direct Mini, Shueisha and developer Momo-Pi Game Studio (Persephone) revealed Captain Velvet Meteor: The JUMP+ Dimensions, a new crossover title featuring characters from a variety of their JUMP+ series.
According to a synopsis of the game provided by Momo-pi Game Studio, Captain Velvet Meteor: The JUMP+ Dimensionse will put players in the shoes of “Damien, a young boy who’s just moved to Japan.”
“Lonely, Damien plunges into his imagination as the superhero Captain Velvet Meteor, and discovers a world of heroes and villains from his favourite manga,” the synopsis teases. “Call upon a roster of Jump+ characters to help him on his quest to escape the mysterious world and defeat an unknown menace!”
According to Shueisha Games’ official website (translated via DeepL), the title’s gameplay will be divided into two parts, “an exploration part (real life) where you can move around freely, and a strategic battle part (imaginary) that includes puzzle and stealth game elements!”
Of the game’s exploration portion, Shueisha explained that players will “struggle to live in Japan for the first time!”, adding “It’s time for a little adventure in Grandma’s house!”
Regarding the battle portion, players and their team of “JUMP+ heroes can work together to defeat enemies using ‘power combos’ and ‘assist combos’!”
“Depending on the type of move, you can inflict massive damage, attack in a wide area, or use a variety of other techniques!” said Shueisha. “The game system is a tactical adventure that can be enjoyed by players of all ages!”
The game’s roster of available heroes will include:
- Loid “Twilight” Forger from Tatsuya Endo’s Spy x Family
- Princess from Robinson Haruhara’s and Hirakei’s “Tis Time for “Torture,” Princess
- Chloe and Kai Iod from Akissa Saike’s Ghost Reaper Girl
