How To Evolve Charcadet Into Armarouge And Ceruledge In ‘Pokémon Scarlet & Violet’
Here’s our guide on how you evolve the rather unique Charcadet into Armarouge and Ceruledge in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.
As one of the new Pokémon in the Paldea region, Charcadet has a rather unique evolution requirement. While you only need to use an item, getting that item is a little different. Not to mention, Charcadet can evolve into one of two Pokemon- the item exclusive to either Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet.
To start, you can catch Charcadet in plenty of places. Along with certain one and three star Tera Raid battles, it can be found in the following locations. It’s practically any forest, mountain, cave, or rocky ground that isn’t in North Paldea!
- Asado Desert
- Across East Province
- South Province Areas Three, Four, and Five
- Tagtree Thicket
- Across West Province
Keep in mind it can be somewhat hard to find, as it usually spawns on its own. It’s also worth mentioning that it’s shiny form can be hard to spot- as only its eyes are a different color! Keep an eye out for blue eyes, rather than red.
Now, onto the evolution itself. In Pokémon Scarlet you can obtain the Auspicious Armor to evolve your Charcadet into an Armarouge, while in Pokémon Violet you can get the Malicious Armor to evolve it into a Ceruledge. So, how do you get the armors?
Getting the Auspicious Armor and Malicious Armor
In Zapapico you’ll find an NPC who will trade you the items. Start in Zapapico East, and head west until you find the small fountain.
In Pokémon Scarlet, the NPC wants 10 Bronzor Fragments, and will give you the Auspicious Armor for them. In Pokémon Violet, the NPC wants 10 Sinistea Chips in exchange for the Malicious Armor.
While those items and the Pokémon you get them from appear in both versions, the NPC only asks for the Bronzor Fragments in Scarlet, or the Sinistea Chips in Violet. Using the Union Circle to have online players appear doesn’t change the NPCs you can talk to.
Farming Bronzor and Sinestea
Like most Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet, Bronzor and Sinistea can drop items that can be used to craft TMs- or in this case, to get you the armor. Bronzor and Sinistea’s evolved forms can also carry the Fragments and Chips, but let’s focus on the easier-to-defeat base stages.
Bronzor appear around ruins, and one of the easier ones to visit are just North-East of South Province Area 3’s Pokémon Center. Running around the outside of the ruin in a circle can be a good way to make them spawn quickly.

As for Sinistea you can find it east of Zapapico, literally just outside and right by the eastern Pokémon Center! Sinistea can also be near ruins like Bronzor, but also towns and cities like Zapapico.
The only other place to find Sinistea is South Province Area Six- where Alfornada is. This usually requires unlocking Koraidon’s or Miraidon’s ability to climb or glide. There are ways around that, but the Sinistea will be a higher level.
Keep in mind you don’t have to battle to earn those items. Use Pokémon Scarlet & Violet’s auto battle feature to instantly defeat wild Pokémon, with the Pokémon you send out only losing a little HP.
Once you’ve gathered 10 Bronzor Fragments or 10 Sinistea Chips, give them to the NPC in Zapapico for your Auspicious Armor or Malicious Armor. The item will be found under the Other Items tab in your bag, and used just like an evolution stone. Simply select it, and use it on Charcadet! You can keep giving the NPC the items they want for more armors, so evolve away!
