Marvel Studios Producer Nate Moore Seemingly Reveals Storm, Bishop, And Blue Marvel At The Top Of List For Live-Action Adaptation

Bishop: XSE #2 (1998), Marvel Comics

Marvel Studios producer Nate Moore recently indicated that X-Men characters Storm and Bishop as well as Blue Marvel are at the top of the list for live-action adaptations.

Moore spoke with Deadline’s Anthony D’Alessandro on the Crew Call podcast.

D’Alessandro asked Moore, “Are there other black superhero stories in the Marvel Cinematic Universe you would like to see be told?”

Moore responded, “Oh boy! Yeah, I mean there’s a ton. You’ll get a taste of it next summer in The Marvels because Monica Rambeau, who was introduced in WandaVision — and Teyonah Paris does a fantastic job — but she’s a great character from publishing that’s been around, again, for decades.”

He then transitioned to the X-Men, “It’s no secret the X-Men are coming home. And boy, if you talk about Storm and Bishop, those are two of the great characters in that franchise that I certainly could pitch you ideas all day.”

However, Moore went on to reveal that any kind of X-Men property might be still far away. He told D’Alessandro, “We’re early, early, early days.”

Finally, Moore pointed to Blue Marvel, “And then there’s a fantastic character who is relatively recent in Marvel named the Blue Marvel, who it’s fascinating. He’s a character who is almost Superman in strength and powers, who in the 60s operated as a Blue Marvel and masked character, but in a fight his mask is ripped off and people realize he’s black.”

Moore continued, “And Kennedy actually asks him to go back under cover because he’s scaring people, because he’s going to sort of upset the powder keg of the civil rights era.

And he’s since been introduced into Marvel publishing as a sort of a really smart, almost Captain Nemo character, like he takes these great space voyages and he goes on these grand adventures. But he’s a great character.”

Marvel hasn’t made any announcements regarding the X-Men entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe, albeit they did announce a third Deadpool film that will feature Hugh Jackman reprising his role as Wolverine. A follow-up to X-Men: The Animated Series is also in the works. Patrick Stewart also reprised his role as Professor Xavier in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Back in 2019, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige indicated the X-Men would not be showing up for at least 5 years as the company was committed to its original plans before acquiring the X-Men when The Walt Disney Company acquired 21st Century Fox.

Feige relayed to Gizmodo, “It’ll be a while. It’s all just beginning and the five-year plan that we’ve been working on, we were working on before any of that was set. So really it’s much more, for us, less about specifics of when and where (the X-Men will appear) right now and more just the comfort factor and how nice it is that they’re home. That they’re all back. But it will be a very long time.”

More recently, while promoting Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Moore also noted that the X-Men could still be a few years out.

Speaking with ScreenRant, Moore opined that Storm might show up in a future Wakanda-related adventure, “Well, Storm’s relationship with Wakanda in publishing is pretty interesting.”

However, he then went on to relay, “Obviously, we might be a few years out from the X-Men, so I’m not sure we’re there yet.”

What do you make of Moore’s top picks for live action adaptations for the Marvel Cinematic Universe? What would you want to see adapted?
