Marvel Studios and Disney+ announced the release date for their upcoming Nick Fury-centric series, Secret Invasion, with a brand new trailer and poster.

The series arrives on Disney+ on June 21st and will “be set in the present day MCU.”

The official description states, “Nick Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth. Together they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity.”

The trailer appears to reveal that Fury and his allies will not just be facing off against regular shape-shifting Skrulls, but possibly the Super-Skrull or a forerunner to Super-Skrull.

One of the Skrulls played by actor Kingsley Ben Adir shows off a super ability that allows him to extend his reach. However, the CGI effect makes the ability look like Swamp Thing or Man-Thing rather than the Super-Skrull.

Super-Skrull was first introduced in Fantastic Four #18 back in June 1963 as a response to counter the Fantastic Four, who previously defeated a Skrull invasion of Earth back in Fantastic Four #2.

It’s revealed in Fantastic Four #18 the Super-Skrull has all of the power of the Fantastic Four and even more. He’s able to stretch his body like Mr. Fantastic’s, but is able to stretch even further than him.

He also is able to duplicate the Human Torch’s fire abilities. Not only does he duplicate his power, but he can maintain his flame longer and fly faster than him. He also has the ability to use an anti-matter fire-ball  that destroy anything it comes into contact with.

His strength surpasses The Thing and he also has the ability to turn invisible similar to Invisible Girl.
