‘Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League’ Voice Actor Samoa Joe Promises A “Unique Interpretation” Of King Shark: “I Can Relate To How He Feels About Things”
A voice cast member that can be heard in Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is finally dropping hints of what players can expect from the long-delayed video game.
Now that it is being released, wrestler Samoa Joe, who voices King Shark, can plug the project he has been sitting on for a few years. In an interview with Bleacher Report, he put over his character and the experience he had working on the game.
“It was an amazingly, incredibly fun time, especially with a character like Shark. He’s quite the intelligent savage. I can relate to how he feels about things. And to be able to get in the booth and have fun with a super-talented voice cast and the amazing writing that Rocksteady does, it made for an incredible experience,” Joe said.
The Samoan Submission Machine claimed to have seen the notable iterations of King Shark over the last several years, which includes Sylvester Stallone’s portrayal in The Suicide Squad. But Joe touts his as the “most unique” and “earnest” one yet.
“I’ve seen all the different portrayals across media. Several different takes and they’re all really, really fun, so to be added to that lexicon is pretty cool. I think this is probably the most unique interpretation of King Shark. It’s one that shows you how earnest a shark in his circumstances can be,” he said.
Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League will be out for Playstation and Xbox systems on February 2nd after years of waiting, and a lot has happened during that passage of time.
Our first indication, though not corroborated at the time, that the game was on the way was a mysterious domain filing for the title. Not long after, there were first-look teasers at DC FanDome, but those were soon followed by the constant delays brewing general apathy among gamers.
Amidst all that activity, and while recording his lines, Samoa Joe worked for WWE as an announcer and part-time in the ring. He now works for AEW where he rang in 2024 holding the company’s World Championship.
