For Second Time, Funimation Promises “Uncut” Release of Tsugumomo, Delivers Censored Version Instead
Fans have discovered that Funimation’s recent release of Tsugumomo on Blu-ray presents viewers with a censored version of the series despite the promise made on the back of the box that the release would be “uncut,” in a surprising repeat of the exact same deception seen with the series’ 2018 Blu-ray release.
On January 28th, Funimation released Tsugumomo – The Complete Series – Essentials, a Blu-ray release which proclaims on the back of its packaging that fans of the supernatural harem series will be able to “watch the whole series, completely uncut!”
However, it was soon discovered by Twitter user @GendrNeutralKat that not only was the release censored, but that it was “infact the same censored release [Funimation] cranked out 2 years ago”:

The “same censored release you cranked out 2 years ago” refers to Funimation’s 2018 original release of Tsugumomo – The Complete Series which similarly promised viewers that the release would be “uncut”, only for Funimation to censor various shots of nude breasts from characters such as Chisato and Kiriha:

Funimation would eventually release a statement stating that the instances of censorship in the 2018 release were present because “a combination of uncensored and TV broadcast materials” were used to compile the series for the Blu-ray:
“Funimation’s normal process is to utilize uncensored materials when available to produce a home video release. If uncensored materials are not available, we utilize the TV broadcast version. This was the case with the “Tsugumomo The Complete Series” BD/DVD Combo which utilizes a combination of uncensored and TV broadcast materials based on what was available from the licensor during home video production.”
As the 2018 censored release was repackaged for the 2020 release, Tsugumomo still remains without an official, uncensored version of the series.
