The Rising of the Shield Hero’s Raphtalia Wins Crunchyroll’s Best Girl Award

The Rising of the Shield Hero’s Raphtalia won Crunchyroll’s Best Girl Award in the 2020 Anime Awards.

Raphtalia bested out Carole from Carole & Tuesday, Chika Fujiwara from KAGUYA-SAMA: LOVE IS WAR, Emma from The Promised Neverland, Kohaku from Dr. Stone, and Nezuko Kamado from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.

The Rising of the Shield Hero would also win Best Performance by a Voice Actor (EN) for Billy Kametz’s voice work as Naofumi.

While Demon Slayer: Kimetsu would fall to The Rising of the Shield Hero for Best Girl, the show would win top spots in a number of categories including Best Fight Scene for Tanjiro and Nezuko vs Rui.

Demon Slayer also won Best Boy for Tanjiro Kamado and would take home the big prize, Best Anime of the Year.

Another big winner was KAGUYA-SAMA: LOVE IS WAR. It took home three awards including Best Ending Sequence, Best Couple, and Best Comedy.

Best Girl: Raphtalia in The Rising of the Shield Hero

Best Boy: Tanjiro Kamado in Demon Slayer: Kimestu No Yaiba

Best Opening Sequence (OP): “99.9” in Mob Psycho 100 II

Best Ending Sequence (ED): “Chikatto Chika Chikaa” in KAGUYA-SAMA: LOVE IS WAR

Best Performance by a Voice Actor (EN): Billy Kametz as Naofumi in The Rising of the Shield Hero

Best Performance by a Voice Actor (JP): Yuichi Nakamura as Bruno Bucciarati in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind

Best Fantasy: The Promised Neverland

Best Comedy: KAGUYA-SAMA: LOVE IS WAR

Best Drama: Vinland Saga

Best Director: Tetsuro Araki and Masashi Koizuka for Attack on Titan Season 3

Best Score: Mocky for Carole & Tuesday

Best Protagonist: Senku in Dr. Stone.

Best Antagonist: Isabella in The Promised Neverland.

Anime of the Year: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba.

Crunchyroll reports there were over 11 million votes cast in this year’s Crunchyroll Anime Awards, an increase of 5 million from last year.
