VIZ Media Announces Mazinger Z: Infinity Blu-Ray and DVD Release

VIZ Media announced the release of the Mazinger Z Infinity Blu-ray and DVD.

The Mazinger Z series is a Japanese super robot manga created by Go Nagai and originally appeared in the Weekly Shonen Jump in 1972. The series would continue in Kodansha’s TV Magazine in 1973. The manga was originally adapted into an anime in December 1972 just a few short months after it first appeared in Weekly Shonen Jump. The series has spawned a number of sequels and spin-off series including Great Mazinger, UFO Robot Grendizer, and Mazinkaiser.

Toei Animation would release Mazinger Z: Infinity on January 13, 2018. The film would see a U.S. release on February 11, 2018. It  was distributed by Fathom and had a domestic total gross of $220,682 making it the 60th highest grossing anime release!

“Ten years after the defeat of Dr. Hell and his Underground Empire, Koji Kabuto has retired from piloting Mazinger Z and become a scientist. Now a shocking discovery under Mt. Fuji has revealed the greatest threat the earth has ever known, forcing Koji and his friends to once again fight for the future of all humanity.”

The Blu-ray and DVD will include both English and Japanese version along with English subtitles.

There will also be a number of special features they include a worldwide release message from Go Nagai, Ichio Mizuki’s opening song music promo, and the English theatrical open and end credits.

There will also be director and Japanese crew interviews as well as an art gallery.

The film is rated TV-14.
