Watch: First Two Minutes of Tokyo Ghoul S Live-Action Film Released
Japanese film company Shochiku revealed the first two minutes of their upcoming live-action Tokyo Ghoul S film, which introduces a brand new character in fashion model Margaret played by model Maggy.

Tokyo Ghoul S is the second live-action film based on Sui Ishida’s dark fantasy manga series Tokyo Ghoul. The first film simply titled Tokyo Ghoul was released in July 2017.
The series is set in a fictional Tokyo, where supernatural beings known as ghouls feed on humans in order to survive. The series follow Ken Kaneki as he stumbles into the world of ghouls when he pursues the attractive Rize Kamishiro. Rize seduces Kaneki and plans to feast on his flesh. However, Rize’s plan to eat Kaneki goes awry. Instead, Kaneki is transformed into a half-ghoul when Rize’s organs are surgically placed in his body in order to keep him alive. Kaneki must adapt to ghoul life with the biggest hurdle having to consume human flesh.
Details about the sequel’s plot are being kept underwraps, but it will see the return of a number of the original cast members. Masataka Kuboto, who portrayed Light Yagami in the Death Note TV drama, returns as protagonist Ken Kaneki. Shunya Shiraishi plays Nishiki Nishio, Sakurada plays Hinami Fueguchi, Nobuyuki Suzuki returns as Kotaro Amon, Minosuke Bando plays Uta, Kunio Murai plays Yoshimura, Shuntaro Yanagi returns as Renji Yomo, and Kai Ogasawara plays Hideyoshi ‘Hide’ Nagachika.
Joining Maggy as newcomers will be Shouta Matsuda, who will play the sequel’s primary antagonist, Shu Tsukiyama. Maika Yamamoto, who played Kaede Kayano in the Assassination Classroom live-action will play Touka Kirishima. She replaces Fumika Shimizu who played Touka in the first film.
Tokyo Ghoul S is expected to be released in in Japan on July 19, 2019.
The original manga by Sui Ishida was serialized in the Weekly Young Jump from September 2011 to September 2014. It has been collected in 14 tankobon volumes. A sequel titled Tokyo Ghoul: re ran from October 2014 to July 2018. The manga was adapted into anime series by studio Pierrot and aired in 2014. The series was the 27th best selling manga in 2013 with 1.6 million estimated sales. By January 2014 it had sold 2.6 million copies. The original series has reportedly sold over 12 million copies total.
The Tokyo Ghoul √A anime series was banned in China in 2015.
