Deadpool Creator Rob Liefeld Teases “Huge X-Men Crossover”

Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld is returning to Marvel Comics. Liefeld is the man behind Deadpool, Cable, and the X-Force, and most recently put together the [easyazon_link identifier=”1302901532″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Deadpool: Bad Blood[/easyazon_link] graphic novel with Chris Sims and Chad Bowers.

Liefeld recently attended Wizard World Comic Con in Austin where he revealed he’s working on a “huge X-Men crossover.”

“I have a new project, 2019, it’s a huge X-Men crossover…It’s awesome…Marvel called me up last Thanksgiving and said, ‘We want you to do a big story.’ I said well, let’s see if they’ll go for this, and I tried to do something no one has done before. So I gave them this pretty aggressive proposal for an event and I can’t say what it is, I can’t say what it involves, got a lot of new stuff.”

Liefeld would also elaborate that this new project comes in the wake of Disney acquiring the X-Men rights from Fox. Liefeld even points to a number of fan theories that indicated that Marvel was purposefully not putting out their best X-Men books because they didn’t control the film rights.

“Here’s the deal. Since the X-Men movies came out and Disney didn’t have them, I don’t know if you’ve ever paid attention, but Marvel kind of turned the volume down on the X-Men for almost 20 years. Now that they have them more, what was told to me was, ‘Oh yeah. Our budgets on the X-Men books are back up to what they used to be because now we own them all.”

While it looks like Liefeld will be busy with this new X-Men project, he’s also working on a sequel to Deadpool: Bad Blood, Deadpool: Badder Blood.

Deadpool: Badder Blood will see Deadpool team up with Wolverine and Cable as well as introduce a brand new character, Shatterstorm.

What kind of story do you think Rob Liefeld has cooked up for the X-Men? Are you interested in seeing Liefeld get his hands on the X-Men?
