‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ Will Continue In New Comics Series!
Tim Burton’s classic The Nightmare Before Christmas will finally get a sequel. But it won’t be on the big screen. It will be in comic book form reports The Hollywood Reporter.
Manga publisher Tokyopop will publish the sequel story, Nightmare Before Christmas: Zero’s Journey. The story will follow Jack Skellington’s dog, Zero, as he finds himself lost in Christmas Town. Tokyopop is no stranger to The Nightmare Before Christmas. The publisher worked on a manga adaptation of Tim Burton’s original film.
The sequel, Nightmare Before Christmas: Zero’s Journey will hit comic book stores in full-color single issues. Then Tokyopop will release a collected version in two different formats. The first format will be a full color trade paperback. The second one will be a black and white “pocket-sized manga” volume.
Tokypop has tapped DJ Milky to provide the script for the story while Studio DICE, the team behind the manga adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, will provide artwork.
The new series is expected to debut in the Spring of 2018.
Not only will Tokypop be working on The Nightmare Before Christmas sequel, but they will also extend their relationship with Disney to create a five-volume series on Kilala Princess. This new series will follow-up on the first five-volume series that debuted in 2005. In the new series Kilala is expected to run into a number of different Disney princesses including Mulan, Pocahontas, and Merida.
