Valiant Reveals A Bevy Of Gory Details For Bloodshot Salvation!
Jeff Lemire’s upcoming Bloodshot Salvation might be my most anticipated book of the fall. I can honestly say I’m looking forward to this new story more than Scott Snyder’s Dark Nights: Metal!
And Valiant just got me even more excited by releasing a bevy of upcoming villains as well as the titles for the upcoming story arcs.
First, Valiant unveiled three initial opening story arc titles: “The Book of Revenge,” “The Book of the Dead,” and “The Book of Revelations.”
“The Book of Revenge” will see Bloodshot set off on a path of revenge, violence, mayhem, and fury when his true love’s family attempts to lay claim to Bloodshot and Magic’s lost daughter. But that’s not all! It will also jump ahead and showcase Bloodshot and Magic’s daughter, Jessie. Jessie finds herself being hunted by the high-tech kill squad Omen. She must survive before she is swallowed up by darkness.
In “The Book of the Dead” story arc expected to debut in February 2018, Bloodshot will journey into the Deadside. He will team up with Bloodhound and Shadowman to barter with the ruler of the land of the dead in order to save the soul of a beloved family member. However, hordes of devils and demons block his path to the ruler of the land of the dead.
Then in “The Book of Revelations” story arc expected for a May 2018 release, Lemire will take us to 4001 A.D. where the man known as Ray Garrison is no more. However, Bloodshot 4001 does exist, but he is more machine than man and is only an echo of Bloodshot’s mind, body, and soul. The story takes a twist when the present day Bloodshot is transported to the 41st century and will come face to face with Bloodshot 4001. The arc aims to reveal a “secret revelation that binds them together across the ages forever” and it will “reshape Bloodshot’s place at the center of the Valiant Universe!”
Then we got a slew of brand new villains with names like Rampage, The Scarred Man, a demented cultist known as Daddy. Holy crap, a villain named Daddy? That’s creepy!
Along with these new villains, a number of Valiant’s heroes will also be making appearances in the new series. They include Ninjak, the aforementioned Shadowman, the Death-Defying Dr. Mirage, Punk Mambo, Bloodshot 4001 A.D., and more!
Helping Lemire build this potential masterpiece will be some of Valiant’s top notch artists including Lewis LaRosa, Mico Suayan, Renato Guedes, and Doug Braithwaite.
Valiant CEO Dinesh Shamdasani gushed about the story, “This is really a story that’s a war for Bloodshot’s soul, for Ray’s soul. All the villains are of his own making, are from the duality between Ray and Bloodshot. If he would just leave it alone, none of these villains would show up.” He continued, “So while it’s this massive, violent, epic story, it’s also this emotional, character-driven story of a guy battling for who he is, battling to see if he’s the evil killing machine or the man who hopes to have a family.”
And if you thought Valiant was done hyping this story, they debuted a bevy of gorgeous images from Bloodshot Salvation. Take a look:
The soon-to-be epic story begins on September 20, 2017. I can’t wait!
