DC Comics officially announced Sean Gordon Murphy’s Batman: Curse of the White release date. Murphy confirmed the sequel to Batman: White Knight back in September.
Batman: Curse of the White Knight will hit comic book shelves on July 24, 2019 and will be part of DC Comics’ DC Black Label. The series will be eight issues and will be released monthly. Murphy will once again collaborate with Matt Hollingsworth on the series. He will provide colors.
Here’s the official description of the series:
“Following the critical success of BATMAN: WHITE KNIGHT, Murphy is putting a new spin on this upcoming series, with The Joker recruiting a new, savage partner to help him expose a shocking revelation about the Wayne family’s legacy. As Batman rushes to protect the city and his loved ones from this corrupt conspiracy, the Dark Knight will come face to face with the horrifying truth.”
Murphy spoke to IGN about the series confirming Azrael would be teaming up with the Joker:
“Jack Napier almost took everything from Batman–but that was nothing compared to what Joker and Azrael have planned. Not only are they planning on destroying the Dark Knight, but they’ll undo the Waynes in way you never thought possible. For Curse of the White Knight, I wanted to do a historical story about the Waynes in Gotham. And talk about how deeply both he and Joker are tied to the city. Gotham seems to be perpetually cursed by crime–this story talks about that curse, and how it’s linked to the founding of Gotham Village in 1665.”
Murphy also teased that what was hidden under the floor of Alfred’s room in the original [easyazon_link identifier=”1401279597″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Batman: White Knight[/easyazon_link] book will be revealed in the first issue of Batman: Curse of the White Knight.
