Eric July and the Rippaverse announced they have brought on former Punisher and The Flash writer Mike Baron to write a book about Goodyng.
In a video uploaded to July’s YouTube, Baron recorded a video stating, “I’m very excited to announce that I am now part of the Rippaverse. Eric July has asked me to write a book about his character Goodyng.”
Goodyng is a character that played a prominent role in the recently released Isom #2. The character runs his own private business called Goodyng Services that provides a number of various services from medical response, fire extinguishing, criminal investigation, and more.
Specifically, he aids Avery Silman aka Isom in saving what he could of Silman Ranch after it was attacked by a number of alien-looking werewolf creatures that imploded into flames and set it on fire. Silman then hires Goodyng to investigate the attack and the mysterious creatures. Following his brief investigation he sends Isom to meet up with Sydnee Bloodruth where the two track down a massive lair where the creatures had taken Silman’s ranch hand, Sam.
Baron explains what his plans are for Goodyng, “It’s up to me to provide Goodyng’s childhood, his growth, what made him the man he is, and the struggles he has had to face.”
The writer then detailed his process, “As always when I approach a project like this I begin by making notes in a tablet and when I have enough notes that I call a critical mass, I write an outline. I ran the outline by Eric, he approved, and I went to work.”
Baron also stated, “I always say that a writer has to surprise himself before he can surprise his readers and I succeeded in doing that. I write intuitively so that the story rises organically out of the characters and situations that I’m describing.”
He added, “My challenge was to make Goodyng not only believable, but entertaining, and I think I’ve done that. I’ve also created a villain, a very memorable villain.”
July would announce that this upcoming Goodyng book will arrive sometime in 2024, “Coming very soon. Let’s just say next year sometime you will be getting a Goodyng book.”
