At New York Comic Con over the weekend, VIZ Media announced Star Wars: The Legends of Luke Skywalker: The Manga.
It will be an adaptation of Ken Liu’s anthology novel series that was published in 2017 in the lead up to Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The anthology included six stories surrounding the myth and legend of Luke Skywalker. It was told from the perspective of a number of children who were heading to Canto Bight.
Star Wars: The Legends of Luke Skywalker will be adapted by Akira Himekawa, Haruichi, Akira Fukaya, Takashi Kisaki and Subaru.
Haruichi is no stranger to Star Wars. he created the officially sanctioned Star Wars Line Webcomic Leia Organa: Ordeal of the Princess that’s based off the Leia: Princess of Alderaan novel by Claudia Gray.
And Akira Himekawa previously adapted The Legend of Zelda into a best-selling manga franchise.
VIZ Media’s Chief Marketing Officer Brad Woods discussed the new partnership with Lucasfilm and Disney.

STAR WARS: THE LEGENDS OF LUKE SKYWALKER features the dynamic vision and bold art styles of some of the manga genre’s most celebrated creators and artists. We invite readers to discover this release early next year.”
Star Wars: The Legends of Luke Skywalker: The Manga will be available for purchase in early 2020.
