At the end of Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos achieved his goal of completing the Infinity Gauntlet. He then snapped his fingers and erased half of life in the universe. The list of heroes who fell to Thanos’ snap was enormous. Almost all of the Guardians of the Galaxy were dusted. However, Dave Bautista, who plays Drax, recently confirmed he will be back for Avengers 4 and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
In an interview with Collider, Bautista recounted the number of texts he got showing concern for his character and how shocked they were at seeing Drax dusted by Thanos. He even described them as “heartbroken.” However, he reassured his fans saying, “I’m going to be in 4, I’m also going to be in Guardians 3.”
As to how exactly, his character will be brought back, Bautista doesn’t know, “I don’t know how they are bringing me back, somehow I’m going to make it. As far as I know I am going to be in Guardians 3, so I have to be back.”
But maybe the biggest part of Bautista’s interview came when he revealed the original ending to Avengers 4 might actually get changed during reshoots that will potentially take place in September.
“I thought that I knew the ending to the second film, but apparently were supposed to go back and reshoot a bunch of stuff…I even heard from other actors that the script they read wasn’t at all what made it to film.”
Bautista explained he’s just like everybody else now, “I feel like I’m a fan. I’m not someone who’s on the inside looking out. I’m on the outside looking in. I want to know what the hell is going to happen. It’s going to kill me sitting in anticipation, waiting for this next film. Because they just left me hanging.”
