Avengers: Infinity War Directors Detail Where Thanos Went At the End of the Movie!

Thanos

**Warning Spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War Below**

At the very end of Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos has won. He has achieved his goal and his destiny. He collected all of the Infinity Stones and formed the Infinity Gauntlet. He then snapped his fingers and erased half of all life in the universe. He then used the Space Stone and retreated to a lush green planet and appeared to rest and meditate. One of the big questions I had and many other fans had was what exactly was this lush, green planet and where in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is it located?

Well, Avengers: Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo had some answers. Anthony and Joe Russo were pretty coy. Anthony Russo responded to a question from Uproxx about what the planet Thanos had retreated to, “Oh, the new planet?” His brother Joe would add, “It’s his whatever place that he goes.”

Anthony would continue,”He’s like a holy warrior. Once he puts his armor down in that movie he becomes like a holy warrior and this is his resting place for him. He says in the film he’s just going to sit and watch the sunrise.” Finally, Joe Russo added, “He accomplished his mission.”

The brothers did confirm that the green planet is not located within the Soul Stone or “anywhere weird.” Joe Russo flatly said, “No, no.”

While they didn’t fully tell us what planet he is on or why Thanos chose to go there or if it has some kind of meaning to him, they did tell us what it wasn’t. It appears they might be wanting to keep this planet and location a mystery moving forward.

However, it’s possible this planet might be what inspires Thanos to take up his destiny. It could be the planet is perfectly in balance and he saw how perfect it was after the destruction of his home planet and wanted to bring that peace, serenity, and perfection to the rest of the galaxy.

Anthony Russo describes Thanos’ motivations:

“Look, if you look at Thanos throughout the movie, what’s noble about the character is it’s not about ego for him. He believes that creatures and beings are suffering because of this. So he believes the road for the right way to peace and balance is through eradicating half of all life. And he believes that will bring balance and new life and peacefulness and joy to people – and he dedicates himself to that mission. His choices are remarkably focused on that. He’s not killing people he doesn’t need to kill. He only kills people in furtherance of that goal.”

Do you think the planet has any significance to Thanos? Do you think it’s a brand new planet or could it be a planet we are familiar with in the comics?
