Captain Marvel’s Brie Larson on Carol Danvers in Avengers: Endgame: “Carol is Stronger Than Ever…She’s Matured And The Team Needs Her”

Captain Marvel actress Brie Larson recently discussed why the Avengers must rely on Carol Danvers in the upcoming epic Avengers: Endgame.

In a soundbite clip released by Marvel Studios, Larson explains just how powerful Captain Marvel is, “We’ve seen Carol’s transformation. We’ve seen her kind of grow and evolve and have ownership of these powers. And more than anything, we’ve seen how incredibly strong she is.” She would add later in the clip, “Carol is stronger than ever. More embodied than ever. She’s been learning how to do stuff for however long that we haven’t seen her between her origin story and now. She’s ready. She’s matured. And the team needs her.”

At one point during the soundbite clip, Larson details just why the Avengers have to rely on Captain Marvel.

Larson states:

“You could just see this really beautiful thing. You kind of get a taste with Avengers: Infinity War as well, which is very powerful people meeting each other. Powerful people all being in one room. Powerful people that all have specific skills working together to form a team. And Carol because she sort of has this connection of Nick, who is obviously sort of the mastermind behind all of this, there is a sense of respect from the beginning when she walks into the room. I think of course there is apprehension at the same time of like, ‘Who are you?’ But I think very quickly they understand this is someone they want on their team, and their hands are tied at this point. They’ve done the best they can do and came up short. They’re going to have to lean on somebody new.”

Larson does tease that the battle against Thanos in Avengers: Endgame won’t be easy.

“So at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, we are devastated. And we’re in a state of devastation. I think what is amazing about these films is there are stakes unlike we’ve ever seen before with films like this. There is no bouncing back from some of this.”

She goes on to note that Carol Danvers provides a specific view that Thanos’ attack is not unique to Earth. It applies to the entire galaxy.

“We’re also seeing with Carol the scope of what’s happened because she comes from a different place. We’re seeing that this is not just something that’s just on Earth. This is an interstellar type of situation, which brings a whole new level of importance to this. That this is big. So we get to kick this off with a little bit of a glimmer of hope in a sense that there is a team that is forming that is going to be able to get this done.”
