CNBC Makes Wild Claim About Captain Marvel – Proves They Don’t Know Anything About Marvel Universe!
CNBC made the absolutely ridiculous claim that Captain Marvel is “Marvel’s most powerful character ever.”
Now granted, they do use Kevin Feige’s words to back up this claim. He described Captain Marvel:
“She is more powerful than any character we’ve introduced thus far. So that alone tells you that there’s a reason Nick hit that button at the end [of Infinity War], when he realized that they were up against something far bigger than they had ever been up against before. And having her on your side is hopefully going to change the balance of power in a way that they desperately need.”
That is a huge claim, given they literally showcased a film where Thanos snaps his fingers and obliterates half of the entire universe at random. Captain Marvel got lucky the odds were in her favor. She could have been dust just like Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and even Nick Fury.
Thanos
But Thanos didn’t just show how powerful he was with a fully equipped Infinity Gauntlet. Throughout Avengers: Infinity War he shows off his might when he doesn’t have all of the stones. In fact, he makes Hulk look like a weakling when he wipes the floor with him without using the Power Stone. This is the same Hulk who just went toe to toe with Thor in Thor: Ragnarok. The same Hulk who slapped Loki silly in The Avengers. Even Thor tries to get a punch in and it does nothing.
And while Thanos’ strength was on full display in Avengers: Infinity War, it also showcased the Avengers who were able to put up a fight against him.
Iron Man
Iron Man was actually able to draw blood from Thanos, but that was about it. Thanos then beats him into a bloody pulp.

Scarlet Witch
Scarlet Witch even holds off an Infinity Gauntlet empowered Thanos while simultaneously destroying an Infinity Stone.
That’s just three characters who have shown how powerful they truly are.
But if what CNBC and Kevin Feige says is true and that Captain Marvel is “more powerful than any character they’ve introduced so far,” why in the world is Captain Marvel running around with the Starforce team in set photos and the most recent trailer for Captain Marvel?
There are also shots of her in what appears to be captivity. She can’t be more powerful than Thanos if she allowed herself to be captured. Thanos fought multiple teams of the Avengers and did not fall. Even when he was ambushed by Iron Man and Doctor Strange’s team he was able to break free.
It’s more than likely Feige was trying to hype both Captain Marvel and Avengers 4 with his statements, because the actual evidence so far does not support those claims.
And if you want to look at the comic books for evidence, Captain Marvel is nowhere near the most powerful Marvel character. In fact, a non-Infinity Gauntlet powered Thanos is able to kill War Machine while Captain Marvel and a massive team of Avengers and and Marvel heroes tried to ambush him.
The Marvel Universe is also home to heroes like Franklin Richards, who can literally create pocket universes with his powers. There’s also Galactus, who goes around devouring planets. Along with Galactus, you have the Silver Surfer with the power cosmic. There’s also Adam Warlock. The list of characters that are more powerful than Captain Marvel in the comics could go on.
What is possible, is that Captain Marvel has the potential to be the most powerful character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The trailer hints about her potential power in a clear homage to Goku and Dragon Ball as Captain Marvel powers up at the very end of the trailer.
But as it stands now. There’s absolutely no way that Captain Marvel is the most powerful Marvel character.
