Disney Adds “Inclusion Key” To Training For Theme Park Cast Members
Disney has announced that their “Four Keys” training program will be updated to include a new ‘key’ focused on inclusion.
“The Four Keys” refer to a Disney training philosophy in which employees are trained to prioritize the ‘key’ elements of “Safety, Courtesy, Show, and Efficiency”, in that order, to ensure that theme park guests enjoy their experiences.

On September 24th, Disney issued a statement to their employees announcing that a new key – inclusion – would be added to Cast Member training worldwide.
“For more than 60 years, the Four Keys of Safety, Courtesy, Show, and Efficiency have provided a foundation for our culture and guided our renowned approach to service as we’ve welcomed Guests from all over the world,” said Disney.

“As we keep moving forward and working together to drive meaningful cultural change, we are introducing Inclusion as a new key and will be rolling out the Five Keys globally across the segment.”
As of writing, the exact details of what the new Inclusion Key training will entail, as well as its placement on the established priority hierarchy, are currently unknown.
Disney’s new Inclusion Key comes just months after CEO Bob Chapek addressed the “issues of racism and social injustice [that] have also been front and center in ours and our nations’ consciousness in recent months,” during a quarterly earning’s call held in August.
During the call, Chapek announced that the company had “established diversity and inclusion pillars” and would be moving “toward greater representation and inclusion.”
“I am as optimistic as I can be about our plans moving forward,” said Chapek.
