Disney and Lucasfilm Reveal New Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens Trailer
Disney and Lucasfilm just debuted the latest trailer for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens at the Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, California.
The trailer opens on what can only be Tattoine as a speeder glides through the sand. The camera eventually pans out and you are witness to a breathtaking view of an Imperial Star Destroyer crumbling away. It leads you to believe the Star Wars universe has drastically changed from the Rebellion’s victory at the Battle of Endor. This is reinforced with an emotionally moving depiction of Vader’s crushed helmet.
But not everything has changed. The Empire is still around as Kylo Ren with his broadsword inspired lightsaber stands in command in front of a legion of Stormtroopers backdropped by an Imperial banner. X-Wing fighters appear to be on mission on an Earth-like planet and then there is the Millenium Falcon. The Falcon is up to its usual tricks evading Imperial fighters and ducking into cavities to avoid detection.
For millions of fans around the world, Han Solo with a big smile voices what we are all thinking after viewing the trailer. “Chewie, we’re home.” Yes, we are.
What do you guys think about the trailer? Will this wash away the stain of the prequels or will it pile on and further ruin Star Wars?
