How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World Trailer Released!
DreamWorks Animation has officially released their first trailer for How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World.
Watch it right here:
The trailer starts off introducing newcomers to the world of How to Train Your Dragon. We get to see a Viking/Dragons utopia. However, it’s not a utopia for everyone. It could be less crowded and more sanitary!
The trailer then switches gears and introduces us to a Light Fury, who is spooked easily and then uses her dragon breath to create some kind of portal and disappear. It was a pretty neat introduction to this new dragon.
From there, we get another shift as Astrid and Hiccup explore a hidden dragon world where the Light Fury seems to have made home. There’s even a fun romance between Toothless and this new Light Fury and there are definitely some odd mating behaviors between the two dragons.
At around 1:30, the trailer introduces antagonist. A dragon hunter, who has brought down every single Night Fury except for Toothless. It also appears he has captured the Light Fury. When Hiccup proclaims he won’t give up Toothless, this new villain promises he will destroy everything he loves.
The Viking/Dragons utopia is at risk and Hiccup advocates for abandoning it and finding a new place to start. However, it also appears he’s going to be taking the fight to this dragon hunter and his massive armada. There’s a lot of exciting action sequences involving Toothless and Hiccup as they take on this new dragon hunter and the threat he imposes to their way of life.
It looks like a lot fun!
The film will be directed by Dean DeBlois and will star Jay Baruchel, America Ferrera, Cate Blanchett, Kit Harrington, Craig Ferguson, and F. Murray Abraham.
Here’s the official synopsis from DreamWorks Animation:
“What began as an unlikely friendship between an adolescent Viking and a fearsome Night Fury dragon has become an epic trilogy spanning their lives. In this next chapter, Hiccup and Toothless will finally discover their true destinies: the village chief as ruler of Berk alongside Astrid, and the dragon as leader of his own kind. As both ascend, the darkest threat they’ve yet faced—as well as the appearance of a female Night Fury—will test the bonds of their relationship like never before.”
