J.J. Abrams Produced World War II Flick Unleashes Supernatural Horrors in First Trailer!

Overlord

J.J. Abrams produced Nazi horror flick, Overlord, takes us back to an alternate version of World War II, where the Nazis have unleashed some truly horrific supernatural horrors.

The soundtrack with AC/DC’s Hell’s Bells is a perfect combination with the Nazi horrors that are unleashed on a number of soldiers who find themselves heavily outnumbered and behind enemy lines.

Take a look:

There’s definitely some really creepy designs going on here. The one scene with the guy writhing on the ground as he appears to transform is truly horrific. It reminds me a little bit of the amazing Werewolf transformation in Van Helsing.

What really stands out to me is the film isn’t trying to capture a real “horror” vibe. It’s almost a combination action/horror as there are scenes of the soldiers just lighting up their foes or at least firing a ton of ammunition at them. It reminds me of Call of Duty Zombies where you just have to mow down waves upon waves of these creatures. But the horror vibe is still there. You don’t know what’s lurking around the next corner or behind the final door. It shows off the 1,000 year soldiers that appear to be very zombie-like, but it also teases there is something much worse. Above all it looks pretty entertaining!

The film stars Wyatt Russell, Bokeem Woodbine, Pilou Asbaek, and Jacob Anderson. It is directed by Julius Avery.

Here’s the official description:

“On the eve of D-Day, American paratroopers are dropped behind enemy lines to carry out a mission crucial to the invasion’s success. But as they approach their target, they begin to realize there is more going on in this Nazi-occupied village than a simple military operation. They find themselves fighting against supernatural forces, part of a Nazi experiment.”

Overlord will hit theaters on October 26, 2018.
