Kevin Feige Gives An Update on the Possibility of the X-Men In The MCU!
We’ve been following reports of a major buy out deal between Fox and some major studios. Though Sony was in the running, it seems that Disney is currently leading the pack. With this news, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is already in awe of the possible opportunities of having the X-Men in the MCU.
Kevin Feige and X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner spoke with Vanity Fair about the possibility of incorporating the X-Men into the MCU. Lauren Shuler Donner stated that she’d love to again work with Kevin. Though she knows that the decision of seeing the X-Men in the MCU isn’t in her hands.
Well, I wish. I would love it, I would love it. But it’s not for me to say.
Kevin Feige for his part agreed, but also shared a bit more information about the stage of the process the negations are in.
Well, the problem is whenever I say anything about it, it becomes 15 headlines. So would we like to? Yeah, of course. Is there any movement toward it at all? No. Same thing. Same status.
Though his words aren’t too encouraging, it’s no surprise there isn’t movement given Disney hasn’t bought out Fox yet.
However, things could move very quickly. If Disney’s past acquisitions are any indication. If you remember, Disney and Lucasfilm didn’t give any hints the deal would go down. The negotiations were completely private until the acquisition was announced.
If Disney does buy out Fox, Feige will have a challenge incorporating the X-Men into the MCU especially with the successful Deadpool and X-Men films. One possible way Feige could introduce the X-Men into the MCU is through Black Panther’s connection with Storm. In the comics, the two get married and have a well-known successful relationship. It could be a fun way to not only continue to build on the excellent portrayal of Black Panther in the movies, but also provide a great bridge to bring in the X-Men.
If Disney buys Fox, how do you think they will incorporate the X-Men into the MCU? Do you think they will continue to allow Fox to develop independent films like Deadpool and New Mutants?
