Law & Order: SVU Star Chris Meloni Asks DC Comics to be the Next Batman!

Law & Order: SVU star Chris Meloni took to Twitter to ask DC Comics to be the next Batman.

Meloni responded to a fan reaction regarding rumors that Twilight actor Robert Pattison could be the next Batman. Meloni Tweeted, “Yo @DCComics this is what the kids call, “going VIRAL”! Pull the trigger. I’m ready. I’m…BATMAN”

Meloni’s pitch to become Batman comes after Ben Affleck announced after years of rumors that he would be stepping away from Batman and would not appear in Matt Reeves’ upcoming Batman film.

As for what Reeves and Warner Bros. are looking, the most recent reports indicate the director and studio have a specific age range in mind.

Director Matt Reeves has described his Batman film as a “point of view-driven, noir Batman tale.” He would go into detail:

“It’s told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it’s going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional. It’s more Batman in his detective mode than we’ve seen in the films. The comics have a history of that. He’s supposed to be the world’s greatest detective, and that’s not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been. I’d love this to be one where when we go on that journey of tracking down the criminals and trying to solve a crime, it’s going to allow his character to have an arc so that he can go through a transformation.”

Given that Reeves is looking to tell a noir Batman story with Batman’s detective mode front and center, it’s possible Meloni has a shot given his experience as a New York City Police Detective.

Do you think Meloni would make a great Batman? Who do you want to play Batman?
