We are inching closer to the June 2017 release of Wonder Woman, and a brand new image has been released for the upcoming movie. As seen in this latest photo we see Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) taking her legendary “god killer” sword from the Themyscria armory.
Wonder Woman is going against everything she knows to take the weapon.
“There is a point in any good origin story where the hero has to make the decision to step out on her own, forge her own path, and fight for what’s right. For Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), her moment comes when she disobeys her mother, Queen Hippolyta (Connie Nielsen); breaks into the heavily guarded armory on her idyllic all-female island of Themyscira; and — as seen in the image above — steals the Amazon’s mythical sword, the “god killer,” before heading to Europe to help save humanity.”
Wonder Woman is doing quite a bit more than taking the “god killer” with this movie, she will be the first major superhero film with a female as the lead. And depending on the success of this film, the all female “Gotham City Sirens” film can be given a leg up as it tries to follow the momentum set by this legendary heroin.
The film is directed by Patty Jenkins, and stars Gal Gadot, Robin Wright, Chris Pine, Danny Huston, and Connie Nielson. Wonder Woman is set to release on June 2, 2017, which will be followed later in the fall by Justice League.
