‘The Martian’ Actress Jessica Chastain Confirms Role In Upcoming ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ Movie!

The Martian actress Jessica Chastain confirmed all of the rumors that she will be appearing in the upcoming X-Men: Dark Phoenix movie. She also hinted that she will be portraying a villain.

She tagged James McAvoy, who plays Charles Xavier, and asked him if he was ready for her in Montreal. Montreal is where X-Men: Dark Phoenix is currently in production. She then informed him she was going to make him cry so hard!

Jessica Chastain has a huge resume. She starred in Interstellar, The Martian, The Huntsman: Winter’s War as well as Crimson Peak.

Many of the rumors have Chastain portraying Princess-Majestrix Lilandra Neramani. Princess-Majestrix Lilandra Neramani is a member of the royal family of the Shi’ar Empire, an extraterrestrial race that controlled all of the planets in the Shi’ar galaxy.

In the comics, Lilandra actually seeks aid from the X-Men in deposing her insane brother D’Ken who aims to wield the power contained within the M’Kraan Crystal. Lilandra contacts and recruits the X-Men to help defeat D’Ken with the power of the Phoenix hiding within the X-Men Jean Grey. Upon defeating D’Ken, she then takes Charles Xavier, who believes the X-Men all died in the battle with D’Ken, as her consort. However, Xavier does return to Earth realizing the danger of an uncontrolled and insane Phoenix. That danger manifests itself when the Phoenix wipes out an entire world allied to the Shi’ar. Lilandra demands the Phoenix be whiped out pushing Charles Xavier to demand a trial by combat.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix follows up on Fox’s X-Men: Apocalypse which grossed $543.9 million worldwide, but only $155.4 million domestically. It received a 66% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Jessica Chastain will join James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Alexandra Ship (Storm), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), and Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler) for X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
